Standing about 20 metres above the river with panoramic views of the wooded valley, no other houses are in sight but only about 400 metres from the village.
The house has all the certifications for a modern build. Incorporating internal and external wall insulation. All windows are double glazed with retractable mosquito netting.
The house is found between Vila Nova de Poiares and Arganil. Approximately 30 minutes from Coimbra, 2 hours from Porto and 2.5 hours from Lisbon.
A large workshop with greenhouse and fruit drier lies behind the house, fully fitted with electric and water. The workshop area is complemented with an insulated roof and a cast iron stove.
To the rear of the house an area has been excavated to accommodate either a natural pond or swimming pool. Clay is available in the local town.
Meandering through the wooded valley. The river Alva is interrupted by small rippling rapids, old mill pools and ancient stone built watermills.
The surrounding area is sparse mixed woodland interlaced with wild lavender and other shrubs, each taking their turn to add colour and scent.
4 varieties of grape vines straddle the walls and hillside, some for eating, others for making wine. Over 40 different fruit and nut trees have been planted in the last 8 years, including apple, pear, cherry, plum and various nuts.
As the vegetables come to an end, the grapes will be maturing, ready to collect.
